Ever wonder what the Founding Mothers did to help America win their independence from Britain? The American Revolutionary war wasn't fought just by the men. Women had a huge impact on the outcome of the war, fulfilling many roles from setting up a national boycott on British goods to working as spies, scouts, and even soldiers. Presenter Tames brings to life these extraordinary women whose cunning, courage, and creativity helped win the war and shape our country.

The program is presented in two parts. In the first half, Tames wears clothing made from patriotic wool and linen, discussing women who took active military and intelligence roles—including the woman trusted to print the Declaration of Independence and the woman who disguised participants in the Boston Tea Party. In the second half, wearing an imported printed cotton gown, Tames discusses women who conducted fundraising, ran farms and businesses, and organized supplies for the Continental Army. These women refused to accept gender-based limitations and went above and beyond to help America achieve independence.
