1. Overview

The Storytown app helps users discover local events and optionally create free accounts to follow venues, artists, and organizers while receiving email notifications about upcoming events matching their interests.

User account functionality is powered by Rova.Live. When you create an account or use account features in the Storytown app, you are interacting with Rova.Live's platform via its API.

2. Information Collected

2.1 Without Account Creation

Users accessing the app without creating an account have only limited, anonymous usage data collected. No personally identifiable information is gathered.

2.2 With Account Creation (via Rova.Live)

Account registration collects and stores the following information through Rova.Live:

• Display name
• Email address for login and notifications
• Password (hashed and encrypted by Rova.Live)
• Phone number (optional, reserved for future SMS features)
• Preferences and interests regarding venues, artists, organizers
• Notification settings for event alerts

2.3 Anonymous Usage Analytics

We use PostHog to collect anonymous, aggregated data to improve app performance and user experience. This includes device type, operating system version, app version, accessed features, session duration, navigation patterns, crash reports, technical error logs, anonymized IP addresses, and general geographic region information (country/state level only).

3. How Information Is Used

Account Information (Rova.Live)

• User authentication during login
• Ability to follow venues, artists, organizers
• Event notification delivery matching user interests
• Notification preference management
• Account support and inquiry responses

Phone Number

Phone numbers are collected to reserve preference for future SMS notification features. SMS messages will not be sent until the feature launches, and users receive opt-in/opt-out opportunities at that time.

Anonymous Analytics

• App functionality, performance, and stability improvements
• Usage trend analysis informing product decisions
• Bug identification and crash resolution

4. Email Communications

If you create an account and opt in to notifications, we will send you transactional and notification emails including event alerts and account-related communications. Email delivery is handled by Resend, a third-party email delivery service.

You can unsubscribe via links in every email or by updating your in-app preferences.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising. Information sharing occurs only in these limited circumstances:

• Rova.Live — account data storage and processing
• Resend — email address for notification delivery only
• PostHog — anonymous usage analytics
• Legal requirements — court orders or governmental authority demands
• Business transfers — merger, acquisition, or asset sale scenarios

Venues, artists, and organizers do not receive access to your personal information when you follow them.

6. Data Retention

• Account data is retained while your account is active and deleted per Rova.Live's policy upon account deletion
• Anonymous analytics: up to 26 months via PostHog
• Email delivery logs: per Resend's retention policy

7. Data Security

Rova.Live implements industry-standard security measures to protect your account data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Reasonable technical and administrative safeguards protect collected anonymous data. No method of electronic transmission is 100% secure.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Account Deletion

You may delete your Rova.Live account and associated data within the app or at rova.live, removing your name, email, phone number, and preferences.

Opt Out of Notifications

You can decline event notification emails using unsubscribe links or in-app notification settings.

Opt Out of Analytics

You can limit analytics data collection through device privacy settings or by uninstalling the app.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what information is collected, delete personal information via account deletion, opt out of information sales (which we do not engage in), and receive non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights.

European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object. You may contact us or Rova.Live directly or lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

9. Children's Privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. User accounts require users to be at least 13 years old. Reports of underage accounts will result in account removal.

10. Third-Party Services and Links

The app may include links to independent third-party ticketing platforms like Eventbrite, Ticketmaster, or Luma. These services operate independently with separate privacy policies, and Storytown is not responsible for their privacy practices.

11. International Data Transfers

User data may be processed in the United States or other countries where Rova.Live and infrastructure providers operate. Information accessed from outside the United States may be subject to different data protection laws.

12. Policy Changes

Updated dates and revised terms will be posted on this page. Material changes will trigger in-app notifications. Continued use of the app indicates acceptance of revised policies.
