Carpenter Foundation
The Carpenter Foundation, founded by Alfred S.V. Carpenter and Helen Bundy Carpenter in 1942, initially known as the Jackson County Recreation Agency, provided recreational activities for Camp White servicemen. It transformed into a family foundation in 1958, shifting from personal charitable giving to a broader philanthropic mission. In 1972, the board added four public trustees to enhance decision-making diversity. Under the leadership of Jane and Dunbar Carpenter, who served for over 30 years, the foundation continued to grow as a community partner. The Carpenter Foundation's mission is to foster opportunity, choice, inclusiveness, enrichment, and positive change in the Rogue Valley, collaborating with various agencies, organizations, and public entities.
